Raima Sen (Bengali: রাইমা সেন; born Raima Dev Varma on November 11, 1979) is an Indian film actress.
She is the daughter of Moon Moon Sen and the granddaughter of legendary actress Suchitra Sen. Her sister, Riya Sen, is also in the Bollywood industry. Their father is Bharat Dev Varma, scion of the erstwhile royal family of Tripura state.
Her paternal grandmother Ila Devi, was the princess of Cooch Behar (in Bengal), whose younger sister Gayatri Devi is the Maharani of Jaipur.
She made her debut in the film Godmother, which was a critically acclaimed success, but her minor role may have been overlooked in favour of the protagonist, played by Shabana Azmi. She then starred in the film Daman playing Raveena Tandon's daughter, where her small performance was appreciated.
Her breakthrough role came when she starred in the Rituparno Ghosh's film Chokher Bali. She won much praise for her role as the simple, submissive Ashalata. After a few more average movies she had a critically acclaimed hit in 2005 with Parineeta, where she played the playmate of the film's heroine, essayed by the debutante Vidya Balan. Since then she has had two more hits with the action thriller Dus and the Bengali film Antar Mahal (where she had a very small role). Most recently, she appeared in the film The Bong Connection (co-starring Shayan Munshi). She has signed her first Tamil film and she is expected to do more south indian films. She has yet, however, to play the leading role as an actress in any hit movie.

Raima's public profile and image is much lower-key and more demure than that of her sister Riya who has been compared more to their mother. Raima is also said to resemble her grandmother much more than either her mother or her sister.[1]. Journalists who meet her describe her as easy to talk to, and devoid of starry airs.
In an interview, she says while she enjoys Mumbai's faster pace of life, its gyms and its nightclubs, she misses her family in Kolkata, her dog Cuddles, and Kolkata's street food, notably Jhal Muri and Aloo Chaat.

Aegan New Photos AJith
Aegan (Tamil:ஏகன்) is a forthcoming Tamil feature film currently being directed by Raju Sundaram, who with Aegan will direct his maiden film. Ajith Kumar acts in the lead role, whilst Nayantara, Navdeep, Suhasini Ratnam, Nassar and Jayaram also play roles in the film. The film, which has been under production since late 2007, has Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music composer. The film, produced by Ayngaran International, is set to be released on October 28, 2008 coinciding with Diwali.
Development
In September 2007, early indications suggested that Ayngaran International were set to make a film starring Ajith Kumar directed by Venkat Prabhu, however the chance went to first-time director Raju Sundaram, in a project titled Akbar. Despite denying the title, Ajith confirmed the project and stating that he had put on weight and grew a beard for his participation in the project. Following the success of Billa, Ajith Kumar waited till the birth of his first child, in January 2008, prior to commencing his shoot for the film. The 40-member unit consisting of Ajith, director Raju Sundaram, cameraman Arjunan, action choreographer Stun Shiva and a few stunt men from Chennai flew to Hong Kong on January 14, 2008 and began their first schedule for a 10 day stint.
The portions in Hong Kong were shot showing Ajith's introduction stunt scene set against the sky-scrapers, Hong Kong airport and the sea with the help of Chinese action choreographers. The crew shot schedules in Theni and Ooty and various other locations in South India during the filming. The film finished its talkie portion in early September 2008, whilst songs, yet to be filmed, will be canned in England, Australia and New Zealand. The film, initially described as a "musical action comedy", has been announced as a remake of the Bollywood blockbuster, Main Hoon Na. The film previously referred to as Akbar, Ramakrishnan and Anthony Gonsalves was christened as Aegan, a name of Lord Shiva.

Following the announcement of the project, tentiatively titled as Akbar, Shriya Saran was rumoured to be the heroine, following her successful role in Sivaji: The Boss. However due to differences, Saran was ousted from the project due to her limited callsheets, as she had to fly to and from America where she was then shooting for her Hollywood film, The Other End of the Line. However other indications claimed that Saran was ousted from the project due to her involvement in Indiralohathil Na Azhagappan, in which she appeared in an item number; which Ajith Kumar was unhappy with due to previous feuds with the lead, Vadivelu of that film. Reports indicated that Parvati Melton had replaced Saran, but later denied it signalling that she was not approached. Suhani Kalita was announced as the second heroine of the project, but was later removed due to unknown reasons. Several Bollywood heroines including Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, Ayesha Takia, Ileana D'Cruz, Tanushree Dutta and Sneha Ullal were linked to the role, as well as reports that Shriya Saran would reprise the role after making up with Ajith. The role eventually was given to Katrina Kaif, who was set to make her debut in Tamil films with Aegan, however she later opted out due to callsheet clashes. It was announced that Nayantara would play the role of the heroine in the film, following her role opposite Ajith in Billa. Furthermore it has been indicated that Namitha, Mumaith Khan and Rakhi Sawant will all appear in an item number in the film. In February 2008, it was confirmed that Navdeep would play a role in the film as well as Suman, who will appear in a villainous role. Malayalam actor, Jayaram will also play a role in the film, which will be co-produced by actor, Arun Pandian.
Nassar and Suhasini Ratnam were selected to play the roles of the parents of Ajith, whilst Raju Sundaram's elder brother, Prabhu Deva was given a chance to make a cameo appearance in the film as a dancer. Supporting actors M. S. Baskar, Sathyan and Sriman also play roles in Aegan, as does model Piaa Bajpai, who appears as the ladylove to Navdeep. Yuvan Shankar Raja was signed on as the music composer whilst Arjun Jena, was given the opportunity to be the cinematographer for the project and Milan, who did the art direction for Billa, renews his association with Ajith in the film.

Bollywood runs on `herd mentality`, acknowledging only the successful films of actors and not their talent, says actress and former beauty queen Diya Mirza.
Missing from the big screen since her cameo in the box office dud Krazzy 4, Diya hopes that her off-beat film Bits and Pieces opposite Rahul Bose is released soon.
She won the Miss Asia Pacific beauty pageant in 2000 and forayed into Bollywood in 2001 with Gautham Menon`s Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein opposite R Madhavan. The film did average business at the box office. But after that most of her films including Deewaanapan, Tumko Naa Bhool Paayenge and Tehzeeb sank without a trace.
In seven years, Diya has failed to deliver a memorable performance in the lead.
She was, however, seen in cameos in hits such as Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and Shootout at Lokhandwala. She also made special appearances in box office hits Heyy Babby and Om Shanti Om.
Not many know that the actress also worked in an offbeat project - National Award winning director Manmohan Mahapatra`s Bits and Pieces opposite Rahul Bose. But the film is still awaiting release.

What is the name of your character in the film and can you oblige us by giving a sneak peak into the lives of Heroes?
The name of my character is Kuljeet Kaur, who is an Indian by every inch. And as far as the `sneak peak` into the film is concerned, all I can say is that the film is about the two boys played by Vatsal Seth and Sohail Khan. They belong to the proverbial `Generation Next` and also someone who have everything that anyone can ever want. They have the money to splurge, they have all the vices, and they have the time, and yes, the luxury to waste time too, which is pretty much the current breed of the upper level generation. Heroes is about their journey of meeting people from various backgrounds of life. It is their interaction with people from various backgrounds of life. Moreover, how they get inspired from them. It is then, that these normal people become `the heroes`.
The bottom line of the story is that one need not do anything extraordinary to become a hero. You can simply do the ordinary things and become a hero. But what matters the most is the `way` you do them. As Mariah Carey says in her famous song, `That a Hero lies in you`. This film is also something that acts as a bridge that connects the modern India with the real India.
So, Kuljeet Kaur is a woman of today, despite being a village belle.
Just a couple of days ago, I was telling my friends about Kuljeet. I said that if we were to play the game of `word Association` with Kuljeet Kaur along with Riya (Sen) and Amrita (Arora), if the word is `rain`, then, Riya and Amrita would say, `Oooh, rains, its very utterance sounds so romantic`. Whereas Kuljeet will say `Rains are my livelihood as it is a source of water to my fields`.
What is so amazing is the fact that all of them (Kuljeet, Riya and Amrita) are the same women from the same country but the gap between them is immensely big. In that way, one can easily say that Heroes is an attempt to bridge this gap in its own way. The only time that we associate ourselves with people like Kuljeet is when we see a documentary or when we read something that`s written about them. Heroes is also about a sneak peak into the lives of various people. It really makes me feel very happy to be a part of today`s Bollywood, which is offering space for the films that are highly commercial but yet, deal with the slice of life. Look at Taare Zameen Par, which was indeed a commercial movie. Heroes is another film which falls in the same category.
How much of your character in Heroes do you identify with?
Absolutely, despite the fact that I am extremely urban! But as Shahrukh says, `Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani`.
I come from an army family, with my father and brother both serving the nation. I am extremely patriotic towards my country and I would request each and every family to at least send one of their children to the army. That way, it would not be states and communities anymore, it will be about India. People in the Army give their lives for people they don`t even know. The only time when we remember them is when there is a war happening. Heroes is a look into lot of such things, without any kind of theory and lecture-baazi! It`s more of a practical presentation which, in other words, can also be termed as the mirror of the society! It`s not just me, but the whole nation will instantly identify with Kuljeet Kaur. As an actor, Heroes is a very new space for me and I am simply proud to be a part of it!
Rumors also have it that you have not used make up in the entire film. How much of it is true?
I have not used make-up, but only in some portions of the film, whereas in others, I have. But the one film in which I have just not done any make up is my next film Heaven On Earth. To me, Heaven On Earth and Heroes are the two faces of the same coin.
How was it working with Salman Khan?
Never before in my career, have I ever looked at my hero while working with him, stopped at the sets and said, `Oh, you look so good!`. I did that with Salman Khan when he came dressed up as a sardar. Salman, on his part, simply looked at me so endearingly and asked, `What are you talking about!`
With his beard and turban, he looked like a real jat Sikh! Trust me, he looks so very awesomely good in the film. As a matter of fact, I happened to go to London where a group of people came up to me and said, `Assi tho zaroor dekhengey jee Heroes, Salman Khan tho badda sona lagada hain jee.` (Dear, we will surely watch Heroes. Salman looks so good in it!).
Heroes was previously titled as Mera Bhaarat Mahaan. Can you please tell us as to which name do you prefer more and why?
I think both the titles work for me because the idea being both the titles suits the film so very accurately. That reminds me of an incident, which happened to me a few days ago when I saw a signboard which said Mera Bhaarat Mahaan. But when I came closer to the board, there were these small letters below it which said banana padega.
If I were to think of Heroes from a different context, I think that Mera Bharat Mahaan sounds like a name with a little bit of cynicism in it, while Heroes sounds more positive. That way, I would stick with Heroes!
Everybody knows that you hail from an army background. So, shooting for Heroes must have been nostalgic, since the film has got its share of army moments too.
Of course, the film is so close to my heart, since it has an association with the army. There was so much in the film with which I could connect with. The world today is so fast paced that we don`t have time to look into a soldiers` lives who die for an ideology called `India`! It`s also very sad to know that we today have lost all the ideologies. Forget about being state proud or country proud, we are not even city proud or street proud, which is what makes my heart bleed. The only pride that we achieve is in being `home proud`. The reason why Heroes works for me is that it`s been made without bashing any other country. I am glad that maturity is being exhibited now in our cinema and the so-called `jhingo-ism` is totally gone.
Tell us something about the music of the film and your favourite track.
The music of the film is simply exceptional. Every track of the film has got its own charm. If I were to choose my favourite track from the album, it will definitely be `Mannata. I love this track immensely, so much so that even the instrumental version of the song brings tears to my eyes. Today`s love knows no sacrifice. It`s like fast food, easy come, and easy go. In times like today, where people have zero tolerance levels, Mannata is the way to go! It will simply touch every human`s heart!
Can you cite three reasons for the common man to watch Heroes?
Firstly, it`s a fantastic film. Secondly, I am in it. And lastly, it`s going to be worth every minute of it

With Silambarasan opting out, Deepavali seems to be becoming a two-horse race. Ajith and Suriya are on course for a face-off where sparks should fly. It will be Vaaranam Aayiram vs. Aegan, only if everything goes according to plan. There are apprehensions of Vaaranam Aayiram dropping out for the Deepavali, and releasing two to
three weeks later. The reasons being, International distributors – Ayngaran wanting to avoid a clash of the biggies. Ascar Ravichandran, the producer of Vaaranam Aayiram is also in tune with the idea, since it will give him enough time to market his movie better. A final word on Vaaranam Aayiram is expected to be out in a day or two. For now, Aegan seems all set to hit the screens.
But it looks like both these biggies are not going to have a free run at the box office, if at all they were to make it together. What if Silambattam is missing? Abhiyum Naanum and Seval are ready to make amends for the loss. With Radha Mohan’s stamp all over it, Abhiyum Naanum could well be a dark horse. Remember February 2007, when the rather low key Mozhi had stood firm even in the face of Paruthiveeran. Well, Deepavali 2008 could be another repeat if Abhiyum Naanum is just as good. And, discounting Seval from the race would be foolishness because the man behind it has a record that few others have. Hari is a sure shot hit maker, at least with the rural audiences and he is on familiar ground, he too could walk away from the battlefield proud.
Rewinding to Deepavali 2007. The only person to have a movie for Deepavali 2007 and more likely 2008 is Suriya. He sure has fond memories of 2007 when Vel (a Hari film) had worked well in all centers. Then there was Dhanush with Polladhavan, a runaway success. He wanted to make it this time round too with Padikkadhavan, but missed the bus. Deepavali 2007 will also be remembered for the disappointment of Azhagiya Thamizh Magan. A Vijay dual role, Rahman’s music and the festive season should have ensured a hit, but that was not the case. Finally, one wonders how many people remember about the other releases last Deepavali, Sathyaraj’s Kannamoochi Yenada and Jeevan’s Machakaran.
So, the big question. We have in Deepavali 2008, something similar to last year. Two big stars, one young star and a quiet family movie. Last year, it was Suriya vs. Vijay. Will Suriya take on Ajith this year? What or who will it be this time round? Let the sparks fly.

Padikathavan for Deepavali 
The Dhanush – Tamanna starrer Padikaadhavan is gearing up for a Diwali release. The movie is wrapped up but for two songs, which would be finished sometime next week. Padikkadavan's post production work including sound mixing, background scores and editing is underway now. Produced
by Vijaya productions, Padikkadavan is directed by Suraaj.
Though the expectations among Dhanush's fans were rife that Padikkadhavan would be competing with Surya's Vaaranam Aayiram, Ajith's Aegan, Silambarasan's Silambattam, and Bharath's Seval this Diwali, sources close the film's unit say that Padikkadavan will be released only in December.

Tollywood actress Anushka has been reportedly roped in to do the Tamil version of the Telugu movie 'Vikramarkudu' starring 'Paruthi Veeran' fame Karthi.
The movie to be produced and directed by Lingusamy will go to floors very soon. Buzz is that Anushka, who acted opposite Madhavan in 'Rendu' has been approached to do the female lead in the movie. Karthi plays a dual role in the movie.
The Telugu version was a blockbuster hit and went on to rake in moolah at the box office. Karthi is currently shooting for 'Ayirathil Oruvan', directed by Selvaraghavan.
Upon completing the film, he would commence shooting for Lingusamy's venture. Anushka has been reportedly paid a huge sum to do the female lead.
